All of our African Grey, Eclectus and Caique babies are lovingly handraised, highly socialized and patiently abundant weaned, aka bountiful weaned. Why abundant weaned? We feel that abundant weaning most closely simulates the natural weaning process if raised by the parrot parents in their natural habitat. Abundance weaned parrots are healthier, happier, and more apt to not have negative behavioral issues from adolescence to senior citizen stature. We feed our feathered friends an all organic sprout, fruit, grain, and vegetable diet. On my Eclectus page you can see photos of my special food mix and some photos of my Eclectus family. Most of my flock's protein requirements is supplied in the form of plant protein due to its ease of digestion and metabolism. During the hatching process, we add cooked egg yolk for our breeder birds to boost their protein requirements for the feeding of their chicks.
All of our baby Eclectus, African Greys and Caiques goes home with a folder filled with recipes, a list of foods that I have included in their diet, articles on safety, a pet emergency decal to post on home entrances for fire and police, and a hatch day certificate. I also send a care package home with the new parront which includes parrot weaning formula just in case the new baby needs some comfort food for the first few days while adjusting to its new environment. All of my parrots are vaccinated for the polyoma virus.
